This semester Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been trialling a new initiative for schools called 'Get Kids Cooking.' The ladies that came up with the idea are past teachers and wanted to incorporate a kitchen/garden type program into local schools. They have developed a kitchen cart with a stove top, oven and sink that is portable and can be moved around the school or playground for cooking lessons. Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been using the kitchen cart with their Enrichment Groups and so far students have made quesadillas, hummus, couscous and sweet corn fritters. Because Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been working so hard trialling the program the ladies at 'Get Kids Cooking' decided to donate the kitchen cart to our school! Last Friday, 'Get Kids Cooking' invited Mr Tony Abbott to see the program in action and the keys to the kitchen cart were presented to Ms Thomson. Mr Abbott was a good sport, even putting on an apron to make rice paper rolls with our School Captains Vivian and Will.

Mrs McArthur's amazing intern, Miss Whitmill, organised a fantastic lesson for our Rich Literature unit on The Gruffalo. She had students work in groups to cut out shadow puppets and then they performed the story of 'The Gruffalo.' I videoed their performance and it is below in 2 parts. Enjoy! In keeping with the Rio 2016 theme, Stage 3 put the idea to the SRC to have a Mini-Olympics day for the school. On Friday of Week 6 Stage 3 ran a Mini-Olympics with different events for each Stage group. Stage 1 did the modern pentathlon which included hurdles, skipping, running, stilt walking and hula hooping. We had a blast! Thanks Stage 3!
