Love Mrs McArthur xxx
I have had such a wonderful year teaching 1/2J 2016. We all care for each other like a family and it has been such a pleasure watching everyone form such firm friendships. I will miss you all terribly and I wish I had a class next year so I could keep some of you! Farewell (till next year) and good luck on your new adverntures in Year 2 and 3. Love Mrs McArthur xxx

We could not believe our ears when Mrs Maunder told us, last Friday, that we had won the Sunrise competition for $20,000. Miss Kovacs was overwhelmed with emotion and we were all so excited but had to contain ourselves as it all had to be kept top secret. It was certainly a hard secret to keep. We invented a ruse (involving saying farewell to Mrs Hosking) to justify the colourful wigs and interlude between Presentation assemblies and we think the kids were definitely surprised, especially when the trolls came around the corner! We were chosen out of 250 other entries around Australia because of our spontanaeity, colour, enthusiasm and the fact we involved the whole school and teachers. They said our video brought them the most joy! We are going to spend the money on revitalising our dust bowl (oval). Please click the link below to see the clip of us, featured on Sunrise, being presented with our huge novelty cheque!
https://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/watch/33464070/the-sunrise-20-000-school-surprise/#page1 We had such an amazing time at the Stage 3 fair last Friday and the $2,600 was raised for the school! On Thursday 1st December, 1/2J put up their Christmas tree! We all took turns to put it up and decorate it with tinsel and baubles.
Congratulations to these students for receiving Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for term 4 2016!
Gold - Faith Silver - India Bronze - Ashton Yesterday the whole school danced to Justin Timberlake's song 'Can't Stop the Feeling' for our entry into a Channel 7 Sunrise competition to win $20,000 for a makeover for our school. Miss Kovacs organised the whole thing, including the choreography, getting her dad to come and film it and then editing the full version down to 2 minutes to enter the competition. We think she is amazing! Here is the full video... Here is a link to the edited video that was sent in to Sunrise... Congratulations to our Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners for term 3!
Gold - Iris Silver - Lexus Bronze - Wendy This semester Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been trialling a new initiative for schools called 'Get Kids Cooking.' The ladies that came up with the idea are past teachers and wanted to incorporate a kitchen/garden type program into local schools. They have developed a kitchen cart with a stove top, oven and sink that is portable and can be moved around the school or playground for cooking lessons. Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been using the kitchen cart with their Enrichment Groups and so far students have made quesadillas, hummus, couscous and sweet corn fritters. Because Ms Thomson and Miss Jones have been working so hard trialling the program the ladies at 'Get Kids Cooking' decided to donate the kitchen cart to our school! Last Friday, 'Get Kids Cooking' invited Mr Tony Abbott to see the program in action and the keys to the kitchen cart were presented to Ms Thomson. Mr Abbott was a good sport, even putting on an apron to make rice paper rolls with our School Captains Vivian and Will.
